Wow, I couldn't agree more. You can't relate GW to any other game, theres just none like it...maybe just 1 or 2 but still

One reason.. Monthly fee..

I work full time and do you think i would pay some pencil-neck geeks money per month to use their (l337 or uber) servers to play the games.. I won't do it. CoV.. nah.. i'll pass it might be fun game but trust me.... people will still act like a jerks and scam others. Your just lucky you haven't meet them yet.

If this game were free than hell yeah i'll buy it. But as of now.. ladies and gentlemens.. i'll save my money for 5 PS3... so i can scam some of you on ebay later on next year!

I'm assuming you didnt explore the game very much then SOT, no offense intended. =P

Melee (Tanker, Scrapper) operates the way you stated. Blasters operate only slightly diffrently, in that thier main goal is to stay AWAY from the mobs (they dont take dmg well) and pop a mob for as much dmg as they can from a distance. Defenders are the.....monks.....of the game, they are pure support. They can bite like a blaster, just not hard =P, and of course the controller, is just as it's name sake. Crowd control. The game only gets REALLY fun when you start grouping with people and start learning your role in the game, which is dependant on your class.

City of Villains is only somewhat similar to City of Heroes in that yes, it is the core game, but they have switched the power sets and damage up in such a way as to basically make it an entierlly new game. I almost prefer villains because the stalker, which is basically a scrapper, is more like a rogue, able to turn invisable from lv 1 and the way they critical is diffrent.

Doing missions which you get from contacts (quests) is the main source of experiance and the best way to gain money (influence) which is needed to buy enhancements for your powers. You start with one slot in each power, as you level you gain access to more powers and can add more slots to each power for the enhancements you need to put in them.

Like I said, the game doesnt really shine untill you start grouping, and the better you know your powers and properly slot for them, the better a player yourself will be.

Story lines are introduced through the missions you take on, and is dependent on the contacts you get. There are several so theres not just one story arch to follow.

I hope this answers your question.

NO...nonononononononon. NO...*cough* no.

The point. I am seeking the definitive, all-encompassing PURPOSE of running around via chase-cam view, all decked out to kick ass but only being able to...punch, kick and grunt bad guys into oblivion?

Can I become so powerful I can level skyscrapers? Can I conquer sections of the city and fight off the competition? Can my character be exported and used to create a customized action figure for my collection?

The point, dear boy, the point!?!?!

As I said. The point changes based on the contacts you get. The story line is all encompassing in that it's a whole world of events.

Punch and Kick is only the first step, there are many other powers to get. you just have to level high enough to get to them.

But what is my reward for causing a divorce and alimony payments? If I spend the time playing, what is the penultimate reward? Being able to have a cape and tights? I mean really.

I have nothing against the game, I simply cannot fathom why anyone like me would invest all that game time without knowing why.

I beta-ed this game, and i didnt find that it tickled my fancy. I didnt feel evil enough. It was kind of like a CoH guy dressed up in a darker outfit. Maybe i'm wrong, because i didnt have too much time to explore. I only got in the beta in the last days. But I don't think it is worth paying a monthly fee for. That's just me.

What is the reward for guild wars, or world of warcraft, or final fantasy 11 for that matter? Same as all MMO's.

if ya dont like it, ya dont like it. Dont matter much to me. I only tried to answer because you kept asking for one. CoH and CoV are the basically the same games that any other MMO out there on the market today, complete with quests, copious amounts of leveling and character improvment, and an overdose of grind.

LOL. ok. I was not looking for opinions on comparisons to other games (there really aren't that many, lol). I was curious as to the end-game reward for my time.

The game is fun, I'll give it that, but it seems more sheen and shine than purpose. I can always open up a spawn comic I guess.

I'm sorry, but I just dont see what you could be looking for beyond that.

If you arent satisfied with all the powers you recieve and thier strengths by lv 50, not to mention that you had the patience to REACH 50 in the first place, and 2 new epic classes that are only available once you've had one character reach that level (peacbringer, warshade)....

/shrug

then this game isnt for you.

there is more focus on the now then the future where that is concerned.
